Empress Josephine grew roses at her famous Chateau Malmaison. She amassed the most complete collection of colorful and fragrant roses in the world, and inspired others to continue creating flower gardens. Thirty years after, the rose ‘Souvenir de la Malmaison’ – a light pink Bourbon rose – was introduced in 1843 by the horticulturalist Jean Beluze.
